Dear Virginia Lottery Retailer,
 You might not think of lottery games as team sports. However, teamwork is the foundation of the Virginia Lottery. The team formed by the Lottery and retailers like you has created an enviable record since that first ticket was sold on September 20, 1988. Together, we have generated sales of more than $21 billion, returned more than $11.6 billion in prizes to players and delivered more than $7 billion in profits to the Commonwealth. Along the way, retailers have earned more than $1.1 billion in commissions for teaming with the Lottery.
After nearly 22 years, we’ve grown to be a mature lottery. During that time we’ve built a solid track record of integrity, innovation and fun. Building on that record, we’re working hard to find new ways to satisfy our customers and bring sales to your stores. Our partnership with the Washington Redskins produced the Redskins Mania Scratcher game last year, with amazing second-chance prize packages, including Redskins season tickets and trips with the team to Dallas for the Redskins-Cowboys game. Other partnerships have brought Powerball to Virginia and resulted in games like Virginia’s $5 Million Club.

Teamwork has helped the Lottery and its retailer partners raise more than $4 billion for Virginia’s K-12 public schools since 1999, when Lottery funds were first dedicated solely for that purpose. Working together, we will continue to build a winning record.
